OFFSHORE EXPLORATION IN MEXICO’s PACIFIC OCEAN

This is an ocean safari into ‘The Big Blue’ and not for the faint-hearted. The majority of time will be spent in the boat scouring the open Pacific Ocean and hopefully interacting with some of the world’s wildest marine life. These are long days with pick-up points in La Ventana or La Paz. We then travel to the Pacific Ocean where we will meet our local captain and his Panga (boat).

This area is a lot less developed for tourism, and we are working with local fishermen to reduce commercial fishing. Therefore we will be using their pangas, meaning you will not be traveling in luxury. That being said, we will provide food, drink, and a knowledgeable guide for this epic adventure!

*PLEASE NOTE: This is an open ocean safari with no protection from the elements. This means we will only run tours if the weather allows. Some tours may be cancelled last minute which is out of our control.

- Transport to/from pick up point to Tour location and back
- 6-8 hour guided boat tour
- Light food and water - please let us know ahead of time if you have dietary restrictions.

- Wetsuit - recommended between November - April - you can rent them with prior notice.
- Tips/gratuity - we are not fans of the forced tipping culture. So, if you feel inclined to leave a tip because you had an amazing time and you feel we did an exceptional job, the team would be delighted and grateful for your generosity :)
- Snorkel gear - better to bring your own
- Warm clothing - it can get cold outside of the summer months
- Waterproof clothing

- A good attitude, this is nature, there are no guarantees with what we can see.
Shared boat: $6,000 MXN pesos per person.
Private boat: $36,000 MXN pesos (up to 6 people)

READ BEFORE BOOKING: This experience is designed for experienced swimmers and snorkelers only. It is not recommended for beginners or anyone without confidence swimming in open ocean and potentially rough conditions.

What Animals can you see on the BAJA OCEAN SAFARI?

We are very fortunate to be positioned in one of the most biodiverse places in the world for big marine life. In Baja, we have eight of the ten largest whales in the world. Not to mention the large variety of cetaceans, rays, sharks, turtles, large predatory fish, sea lions, and more! On our marine safaris, every day is a surprise and you can see different marine life throughout each season of the year.

We have amazing wildlife ALL YEAR ROUND! Below are the main seasons, but the months either side can still be great!

· Humpback, Blue, Fin: October - June
· Gray: December - April
· Brydes: May - December.
· Sperm: All year but hard to predict when.
· Main season: March - July
· Sub Season: November - January
· All year around
Orcas show up as and when they want to, they are hard to predict.
Unfortunately Sharks around the world are overfished, especially here in Baja. Their populations are at less that 5% worldwide to what they were 50 years ago. There is still a chance of seeing sharks but they aren’t so common without the use of chum.
Main Season is Oct-Dec, but due to el niño ths year we have still been seeing the bait balls at the end of January!

We work with local fisherman, so we have a great relationship with them. When they see some wildlife, they let us know too, so you have the best chance of spotting wildlife with us!
Not only do you see the wildlife but also to learn about and interact with them in a way that is respectful and responsible.
The animals come first, we won’t harass them, if they don’t want us to play, we will observe from a safe distance.
We guarantee to pay a fair and above average salary to the locals we work with.
We use a drone to search for and keep sight of animals - weather and availability dependent… and you get cool footage to share too! We have the Hydrophone to listen to what lies beneath!!
We want you to remember and share your experience with friends and family. So pictures and videos are included and will be sent after your tour.
We offer food and water on all tours unless stated! Please let us know ahead of time for any food restrictions.

Baja has a sunny, dry climate and only sees about 25cm/10 inches of rain in an entire year. Most of this rain falls from late August through September. The rest of the year we barely see rain.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

The nearest airports to La Ventana are LAP La Paz (a 45-minute drive) and SJD San Jose del Cabo (a two-and-a-half hour drive).
Please note this is a swimming/snorkel adventure for experienced level, this is not a suitable adventure for beginners, or people who have no experience swimming in open ocean in rough conditions.
Please bring a change of clothing for after the tour and you snorkeling equipment if you have it.
Please feel free to bring your camera, although we do our best to take the perfect photos and videos for you, it’s always fun to take your own perspective!
